Weekly Roundup - June 18, 2016

Happy Weekend!  Check out what's been going on in my world and some of the best articles from around the blogosphere.

Man this week was crazy busy especially considering that I don't have a job taking up most of my days.  And the worst part about it is that I feel like nothing was really accomplished.  Yikes!  We were just in constant go go go mode this week and I for one am ready for things to slow down some.  Although that's not likely since my wife's due date is now less than a month away.
One big thing that I got finished this past week was the shelves that I made for the nursery.  There were mistakes that were made, but considering it was my first attempt at making anything in the last 10 years I'm pretty proud with how they turned out.  Pardon our mess since we're still in the process of finishing up the nursery.  This seems like a never-ending process.

I'm starting to get into a better groove with writing although I keep getting pulled in hundreds of directions during the day which takes away my focus.  Some of that is self imposed such as reading or brainstorming other ideas for the blog and resources for all of you and others are things that just happen to come up throughout the week.  Overall I'm feeling better with how things are going on the writing front, but there's plenty of room for improvement.

Do you have any other tips for staying focused and being productive with writing while at home?

This is going to be especially crucial since our plan, at least for the first 6 months after our child is born is for me to be a stay at home dad and blog-preneur.  My wife passed her certification exam to teach higher grades so she should be able to officially have a job for the next school year.  That will be a big relief once the contract is signed and she will be gainfully employed for the upcoming school year.

The Devil's Financial Dictionary by Jason Zweig (affiliate link) is a nice little time killer that gives brutally honest and often humorous definitions of different finance and investing terminology.

Today's word/definition is:
"Patience, n: A quality apparent among such lower life forms as snails and tortoises but rarely among humans who invest in financial assets."

Once again I'd like to say thanks to each and every one of you that read, commented, and shared posts from here this past week.  I think this dividend growth investing and financial independence community is amazing and the openness from everyone is awesome.  Thanks again!

Globule weavers be utilized to make adornments, embroidered works of art or little beaded pieces for decorating attire or house materials.http://www.mordocrosswords.com/2016/06/used-loom.html

  4. Thanks for the mention JC! Looks like you are accomplishing things, as evidenced by the pic form the DIY project you incorporated in the post.

I find it helpful to have a notepad with me at all times, so that I can scribble an idea that randomly pops into my head. Or writing things on your phone/tablet could be another possibility. The downside is then trying to organize all my scribbles into something coherent however ;-(
