New products and potentially fewer headaches are reasons to explain why the stock is doing what it's doing.

dividend stocks Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08165843028099303428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6587699706949333863.post-7546089197186375692013-04-08T07:43:56.130-05:002013-04-08T07:43:56.130-05:00CI,

I'd love some to see sub-$70 but that will probably take a huge market pullback or another recall issue. But if the recall issue pops up again then we'd have to reconsider whether they are truly non-recurring issues.

Thanks for stopping by!Passive Income Pursuithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13947101854482544346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6587699706949333863.post-27289940938100685152013-04-08T07:42:00.814-05:002013-04-08T07:42:00.814-05:00Integrator,

The growth is also limited by the fact that they are a ridiculously huge mega-cap company and it's hard to continue growing at a 10%+ rate. If they can keep up around 5% organic growth EPS will growth around 7% which I think is still a fine number and will lead to pretty solid DG and total returns.

Thanks for stopping by!Passive Income Pursuithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13947101854482544346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6587699706949333863.post-44005602092671836582013-04-08T07:29:03.759-05:002013-04-08T07:29:03.759-05:00Martin,

It was too early in my DG investing experience to realize that this isn't really that big of an issue. Oh well, less learned. Hopefully there will be another chance to get in at some good prices.

@DGI - I don't think it's a steal, but it's still at a good valuation. I'm hoping to pick some up sub-$80. Of course it could be awhile before that happens. If it hangs out here for another week or so I'll probably start a position and just add to it as Mr. Market allows.

Thanks for stopping by!Passive Income Pursuithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13947101854482544346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6587699706949333863.post-68131088257622705382013-04-06T20:47:46.852-05:002013-04-06T20:47:46.852-05:00I like JNJ, and I did include back the one-time co...I like JNJ, and I did include back the one-time costs. I'm a little concerned with how high the payout ratio is and the fact that dividend growth and earnings have been slowing (possibly both affected by recalls). They are also in the midst of quite a significant pivot into the medical devices area with Synthes. It will be interesting to see how that plays out. But I believe it will correct some day and then I will add more shares into my portfolio. I own JNJ in my ROTH account. I bought it at 58 a share so I am totally in positive numbers.
