Weekly Roundup - February 4, 2017
|Happy Weekend! Check out what's been going on in my world and some of the best articles from around the blogosphere.|
I am looking forward to getting back to work although I want to just rip off the bandaid and get into the groove of working again. It'll be good to get back out there and being even more productive with my time. Of course the money doesn't hurt either to help us move forward with our goals to get rid of our debt. If things break right we should be able to get a good chunk of it gone by the end of the year and potentially be debt free, except the house, by sometime in early/mid 2018. And I can't wait for that day to get here!
Other than that there isn't a whole lot else to report on from this past week. I just continue to plow ahead with options in my Rollover IRA. Now that we're into February the tax forms are starting to arrive and I've been taking a much better approach with taxes this year. Since we use a program to do our taxes I've gone ahead and input all of the forms we've already received so I don't have to do it all in one sitting. There's still some forms that are outstanding, namely the 1099-B's for our various brokerage accounts, but I'd ballpark it that at least 60% of our information is already in and ready to go.
One article I stumbled across last week was that Johnny Depp is suing some of his former business managers alleging that they mismanaged his money. Of course the managers are counter suing claiming that they warned Depp repeatedly that his spending was out of control. Turns out spending $2 Million per month, yep that's right, is unsustainable. The laws of personal finance don't change just because you make a lot of money, it always comes down to how much you keep. Celebrities: they're just like us except with extra zeroes!
For those that watch the NFL. Who ya got in the Super Bowl?
