Back To The Grind | Weekly Roundup - March 3, 2018
|
I had a conversation with my wife this past week, nothing serious, but it's nice to see she's kind of thinking the same thing as me. What started it was that I was watching a Planet Earth or Blue Planet episode and they were talking about the Congo River Basin. Once the river/jungle made it to the Atlantic Ocean they highlighted some elephants, buffalo, pigs and other jungle animals just lounging around on the beach.
That's when she said something along the lines of "that would be nice to do every day". So we talked a bit about moving and building a small house on a beach somewhere and just kind of living the "good" life. I don't think we're there yet financially, but it's nice to hear her talking about it too.
Speaking of money, my primary bank decided they were going to institute a new fee for savings accounts. Well they changed the term structure on my account from it being a no fee savings account to a $20 fee if I didn't keep $15k or more in it. WTF! Needless to say since they wouldn't refund that fee and no longer offered any free savings account options I closed my account. And people wonder why cryptocurrencies are en vogue.
I've also made 2 small purchases that I really need to get posts about and nearly added a 3rd on Friday. One was a company that wasn't really on my radar, but falls into the lower yield/higher growth camp and the other was a company that I've long wanted to add to my portfolio. Rest assured updates will be coming in due time.
Have you taken advantage of the market volatility to add to any positions or to start new positions?

ReplyDeleteNo problem Tom. Enjoy your weekend.
DeleteI'll be checking back in to learn about your recent purchases, JC. I know it will be good stuff. Thanks again for including ED in your links!
ReplyDeleteED,
DeleteThey were 2 really small buys compared to what I'd like to do, but I was working with limited capital so it was about all I could afford to purchase. I almost made one more purchase and I hope to get a chance to pick up a few shares in the 3rd company next week. I'll for sure get one of the recent buys covered this coming week and hopefully both. Today's been a pretty productive day for writing which is always a good thing so I'm actually ahead of the game for once.
All the best.
Nice roundup JC - always nice to find a few good posts all in one place! Had read a few already but always keen to read some new material...
ReplyDeleteFrankie,
DeleteThere's always so much great content coming out each week that I always want to share it because I know I miss plenty of it as well.
All the best.
