Weekly Roundup - January 4, 2014

What a week!  We said goodbye to 2013 and 2014 is now well under way.  The end of one year and the beginning of the next is a time for both reflection and looking forward.  It's a time where you'll see a lot of annual recaps and goals for the fresh year.  You'll notice a little bit of a theme in the links to follow.  I'll be aiming high when I officially set my 2014 goals in a couple weeks.  I like to try and set some aggressive goals to keep me motivated all year long.  If I know that I can hit my target with just steady as she goes, is the goal really serving it's purpose as a motivating factor to push you past where you think your limits are?  Aim high everyone.

My little piece of the internet world had a great 2013.  Much better than I ever expected it to turn out based on how 2012 went.  Earlier this week I took a look back at 2013 and it was a banner year.  I'd love to see the same kind of growth in 2014 but I honestly have no idea how far it'll go.  I just want to keep writing articles that you all like to read and can learn something from or be motivated by.  I'm excited for 2014 as I'e got a few ideas in the works for both my blog and other writing ventures.

December was also a great month for my favorite subject:  dividends.  I reached a personal all time high for a month and surpassed the $500 mark.  It was a great year as I ended up with over $2,500 that I didn't have to work for.  You have to love the passive income that great businesses can provide.

I'd like to says thanks again to each and every one of you that has stopped by, commented, and shared a post through the various social media networks.  I can't thank you enough for helping me to teach, inspire, learn, and motivate.

Also, side note, my birthday is tomorrow.  And somehow I've made it to 30 years.  Of course I can do like my aunt did and stay "29" until my niece pushed her into her 30's.  I'll be spending my birthday at work, what fun!  But I should hopefully be home late in the week and be home for the weekend where I can celebrate properly.

    1. D-S,

Thanks for the birthday wishes. It's hard to believe I'm 30 because there's times where I think I just got out of college last year, but it's actually been 6.5 years now. Time flies! The plan is to keep it going because I really enjoy getting to interact and learn from everyone.

      Thanks for stopping by!

I don't even want to know what actual "Budget Porn" would be. Maybe some accountants? Have a great weekend!

  6. Pursuit,

Happy 30th! I turned 30 not long ago myself. Time is flying by, isn't it? And it seems to go faster and faster every single day. I guess that's why I'm trying so hard to slow it down!

Thanks for the mention. I hope you get off to a great 2014!

    Best regards.

    1. DM,

I don't know where the past few years have gone. Heck the last decade for that matter. It feels like I just got out of college a few years ago but when I actually think about it it's closer to 7 years. I can't wait to capture more of my time for myself and hopefully slow it down some.

Pretty boring 30th for me. Just sitting at work. I'm hoping to be home next weekend to be able to celebrate properly.
