Weekly Loyal3 Purchases

Last month I started a new portfolio with Loyal3.  Loyal3 is a new brokerage that allows you to make purchases with no commission costs.  That's right, fee free investing.  Even better is that you can make the purchases with your credit card and earn cash back rewards.  For me that's an extra 1% yield on the first year's dividend.  It's a great way to dollar cost average into positions over time although they do have a limited selection of companies you can invest in.

Each week I plan to make small purchases in several companies to slowly build up the positions.  This allows me to get some capital invested every week, for free.  The valuations might not always be the best but it does help me to consistently build up my portfolio and dividend stream that will eventually allow me to consider early retirement.

I didn't make nearly as many purchases as I did last week but I still invested $125 in my Loyal3 account and I even received my first dividend payment in that portfolio.  A whopping $0.10 from VFC!
  • MDLZ - 9/20/14 0.7149 shares @ $34.97 / 1.72% YOC / $0.43 annual dividends
  • VFC - 9/20/14 0.3751 shares @ $66.65 / 1.58% YOC / $0.39 annual dividends
  • DIS - 9/22/14 0.2805 shares @ $89.14 / 0.96% YOC / $0.24 annual dividends
  • MDLZ - 9/23/14 0.7319 shares @ 34.16 / 1.76% YOC / $0.44 annual dividends
  • DIS - 9/23/14 0.2835 shares @ $88.18 / 0.98% YOC / $0.24 annual dividends
My forward 12-month dividends for my Loyal3 portfolio are now up to $12.14.  Adding that to my regular taxable account's forward dividends of $5,128.24 and my total forward dividends are up to $5,140.38.  I'm now 93.46% of the way towards my revised goal of $5,500.

I've updated my Portfolio page to reflect these changes.

  1. Thank you for sharing your recent L3 purchases. Love that VFC dividend. Can't wait to read about it in once year and see how far you have come. I actually love my VFC stock and wish I could by more. I think they are a little too rich at current levels. Would love to see it under $60 but it is a solid long term play. Look forward to your next purchase/update.

    1. DivHut,

First of many I'm sure. I should have added VFC about 2 years ago but missed out on that one. They've got so many brands under their belt many that you wouldn't even realize. It's a big expensive here but since the plan is to slowly build the position through DCA I'm okay with over paying some times because I know eventually I'll get to buy it on the cheap later.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I've been wondering what the Loyal3 was. My taxable stocks are all in my TradeKing account... hadn't heard about Loyal3 until a few months ago.

    1. Camille,

Loyal3 is pretty great. The only real downside is that the options are limited as far as companies you can purchase. How's TK going for you? Their commissions are pretty low around $5 right? I'm trying to figure out where I'll open up another brokerage account and I think TK is in the running. How easy is it to set up trades?

      Thanks for stopping by!

  3. VFC, nice! I love the company and their portfolio of brands; I use North Face pretty much every time I'm outdoors. Hopefully I can join you as a shareholder someday!

    1. DividendDeveloper,

VFC is great although that first payment I received was pretty tiny. Lots of brands under their control and I expect that to continue to grow in the future. I'm slowly building up my Loyal3 portfolio and adding positions for no costs. That could be a way for you to start accumulating shares slowly.

      Thanks for stopping by!
