Weekly Roundup - August 20, 2016...Finally A Break

Weekly Roundup filled with some of the best articles on dividend growth investing, stock analyses, personal finance and financial independence from the past week.
Happy Weekend!  Check out what's been going on in my world and some of the best articles from around the blogosphere.
We finally got a break from the oppressive heat that had just been sitting on top of us for the last month or so.  Of course, in typical fashion that break came with a swing in the opposite direction.  Every day this past week we've had gray skies and rain.  It's rarely a nice mix here in Houston, but I'll definitely take gray and rainy over 100°F+ by the early afternoon.

Our daughter continues to make so much progress and it's so amazing to watch her learn, develop and explore everything around her.  She's started smiling for real now and is becoming so much more expressive which makes everything so much more fun.  We're past the sleep, eat, poop stage and now we really get to interact with her.

The Devil's Financial Dictionary by Jason Zweig (affiliate link) is a nice little time killer that gives brutally honest and often humorous definitions of different finance and investing terminology.

Today's word/definition is:
"Yield, n. and v.: Many investors chase yield in the pursuit of high income without ensuring first that their principal will be safe; earning a yield of 6 percent or 10 percent or more will do you no good if the investment ends up being worth much less than you paid for it...If you buy investments for their yield alone, sooner or later you will be reminded of another ancient meaning of yield: to surrender or to admit defeat."
On to the Roundup

In case you missed them, here's the posts from Passive-Income-Pursuit over the past week.

Once again I'd like to say thanks to each and every one of you that read, commented, and shared posts from here this past week.  I think this dividend growth investing and financial independence community is amazing and the openness from everyone is awesome.  Thanks again!

  2. Thanks for mentioning my FLO buy. Enjoy these precious times with your daughter. It seems like just a few years ago I was changing diapers. Now my daughter is away in college. Time seriously goes by too fast.

    1. IH,

I never truly understood that until she was born. It's hard to believe that she's already 6 weeks old and time seems to be flying by even quicker than before.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    1. DGI,

I've gotten into a pretty good groove with writing although a lot of that is because my wife is still currently at home until the beginning of October. There's always room for improvement though.

      Thanks for stopping by!
