Weekly Roundup - May 28, 2016
Happy Weekend! Check out what's been going on in my world and some of the best articles from around the blogosphere. |
It's great getting to see the fresh faces ready to step out on their own into college, military, technical schools or whatever path they decide to take in their life. I just hope some of these kids take the opportunity to learn from those that are older and already made the same mistakes on money and life that seem to always be repeated generation after generation.
Wednesday was also a bittersweet day for my wife and I. One of the nurses at the hospital where our son was at had taken it upon herself to raise the funds to make a room that families can go whenever the worst moment of their lives happens. No one wants to think about being in that situation but speaking from personal experience even being in a room within the NICU it still felt awkward to be in there with everyone else. Our son Luke was honored on one of the paintings in the room which means so much to my wife and I knowing that someone, somewhere still thinks of Luke.
I'm doing much better with getting into a routine for my writing, but there's still a lot of work to be done to get into a regular rhythm with it especially if I really want to make a run at being a full time blogger. I've been working behind the scenes a bit and trying to learn some coding online for free because I have some ideas for some tools that I think would be really useful for myself and for all of you.
The Devil's Financial Dictionary by Jason Zweig (affiliate link) is a nice little time killer that gives brutally honest and often humorous definitions of different finance and investing terminology.
Today's word/definition is:
"Mutual Fund, n. - A fund that is not mutual: its investors share all risks equally, whereas its managers share all fees exclusively."On to the Roundup

I'm glad you guys made it through the weather ok. My family near college station told me that there were a couple tornadoes on the ground, but damage was minimal. It's been a tough year for weather in Texas, for sure.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the NICU team is remembering Luke. Thanks for sharing buddy
