Dividend Update - November 2012

November was a decent month for dividends with 5 companies paying out in my FI portfolio but none in my Roth IRA.  This was much better than October's 3 total payouts.  And December is going to be an awesome month with 12 payouts in my FI portfolio and 3 for my Roth IRA.  I had 4 buys in November adding to 3 positions and starting a new position in Target as well as selling out of my small position in Pfizer in my FI portfolio.  I also added to my NSC position in my Roth IRA.  I was able to increase my forward 12-month dividends for my FI portfolio to $1,496.68 from $1,309 with my purchases and dividend reinvestment.  My Roth IRA forward 12-month dividends increased from $180.08 to $202.08.

  1. You're making awesome progress, don't stop. In August you had less than $7 of dividends compared to November where you had over $60! If that's not progress than I don't know what is. It's motivating to watch this!

    1. CI,

The progress is great to see and it's even better to compare to where you were before. That's one of my favorite things about the blog because it's keeps me on track and keeping a record of everything. I'm glad that it's motivating. I hope that I can help people either start off on the right track by leading through example or helping others to stay motivated to continue along the path. December is going to be an awesome month for me. It'll be my highest yet. My only wish is that the dividends were spread out a little more across the quarters but I'm going to take the best opportunity available and not worry too much on the timing of the payments just yet.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. You had a great month. Keep up the good work! We are on the same payout schedule. The bulk of my dividends come m/j/s/d. As you mention though it is not a big deal during the accumulation phase.

    1. I'm not too worried about it but it would be nice to have them spread out a little more. December will be a record month for my payouts since the bulk of my investments pay then. You had a great month yourself. I'm jealous of your almost $16.5k put to work in one month.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Pursuit,

Keep up the great job. The progress adds up every single month. Before you know it, your dividends are paying a good chunk of your monthly expenses.

    Best wishes!

    1. DM,

It definitely does add up every month. My December dividends will end up covering around 1/5 of my expenses. All I can do now is stay focused and always looking for good opportunities to put money to work for the long-term. This year alone I've increased my forward dividends by over $1,000 and next year I'll be able to increase them by even more than that between more investment, dividend increases and selling off some ESPP shares that have a YOC of only 1.35% in a non-DG stock. That alone will account for over $100 increases in my dividends every 6 months by investing in 3.00% growing dividends.

  4. Awesome progress! It'll be fun to see where this portfolio is the same time next year. Looking forward to following you on your journey.

Like so many others, my big payout month will also come in December. Let's end this year with a bang! I'm anticipating my first $300 month.

    Cheers!

    1. FI,

Thanks! I'm also curious to see where it'll end up in another year. I'm hoping that this time next year my forward dividends will be at least $3,000 but I'll have to look more into what I can expect because even that might be too low of a target. I'll be just short of $300 but still $130 higher than my previous high mark.

      Thanks for stopping by!
