Weekly Roundup - December 1, 2013
How in the world is it December already? The end of the year is always such a blur and I just want to be able to slow time down. That's why I'm focusing on reaching financial independence at a young age. Even if time continues to move fast, you aren't having to spend 8+ hrs every day at work. Imagine what you can do with 16+ hours to yourself every day. You have time to build better relationships, volunteer, learn new skills that you've put on the back-burner for years, or anything else that you want. All because you no longer have to be stressed about money or spend all your time and energy at your employer's discretion.
I picked up some more Realty Income earlier this week to help average down my cost basis but other than that my portfolio just continued to churn out some dividends. I've been trying to find some smaller DG candidates as well as some more health-related companies, so I decided to dive into Owens & Minor, Inc. Check out the stock analysis and let me know what you think.
I hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving! Somehow that already seems like it was weeks ago. I'd just like to thank everyone that stopped by, commented, and shared posts from Passive-Income-Pursuit this past week. I'm so thankful for this great blogging community that continues to motivate and inspire me.

PIP,
ReplyDeleteI picked up some more HCP on Friday. REITs really out of favor right now. Also enjoyed the Owens Minor piece. Thanks and I hope you had a great weekend.

RBD,
DeleteI've been thinking about picking up some more HCP as the price continues to fall. I wouldn't be surprised if I add some over the coming weeks as the yield is now quite juicy at 5.7%. I saw an article discussing HCP's latest earnings report over on Seeking Alpha and I have to say things look pretty good.
Glad you liked the OMI analysis. I've been meaning to get some more written up as I slacked quite a bit during November. Looks like December will be a busy month if I want to stay on track. Of course that's a pretty good time as the new year approaches.
Thanks for stopping by!
Thanks for the mention JC! I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the mention PIP! I'm glad you cost excited and share our dream of an amazing roadtrip. Seriously JC, you need to read Jim Rogers' Investment Biker and Adventure Capitalist books. You will be captivated, I know I was. That's why I put them on my recommended Travel/Economics Books list http://fastweekly.blogspot.com/p/recommended-financialeconomics-books.html. Keep the posts coming. You're creating some great content

Bryan,
DeleteGuess I'll have to try and find some copies of those books. I should hopefully have another stock analysis coming out this week. I really need to start devoting time to strictly writing, but I always get sidetracked by other bloggers, the market, and work.
Thanks for stopping by and the book recommendations!
Pursuit,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inclusion!
I hear you on time flying by. That's exactly why I'm pursuing FI. I want to slow it way down. :)
Best wishes.
DM,
DeleteNo problem. It's a big reason for all of us. My wife watched Last Vegas this weekend and she said that after watching it she just felt like time was passing her by. Now it's time to get her to "see the light" of FI. I've been working on her for a while now but she just figured it was a crazy idea. I probably shouldn't have showed her ERE or MMM as both of them are a bit on the extreme side. That scared her off a bit.
Thanks for stopping by!
Nice, something to read up on while at work(OMI).
ReplyDelete"I'm so thankful for this great blogging community that continues to motivate and inspire me."
Yeah, I can honestly say that if I hadn't found this community I most likely wouldn't have started investing and saving.
Thanks!
Life in Center,
DeleteI'm so glad that you happened to find all of those wonderful blogs out there and that you're taking control of your future. There's always something inspirational to be reading somewhere to keep us all on track.
