Dividend Increase - McDonald's

Today, McDonald's board of directors announced a 10% increase in the quarterly dividend from $0.70 per share to $0.77 per share.  The new rate will be payable December 17th to shareholders of record on December 3rd.  This brings the annual payout to $3.08 per share. The increase will raise my quarterly payout from the latest of $22.51 to the next payout being $24.95. My YOC for my shares rose from 3.12% to 3.44%, while my YOC for the portfolio increased from 3.03% to 3.07%. This puts McDonalds on track for 36 years of annual dividend increases. It's a great day when you get to wake up and find you just got a raise.

  1. I was also pleased with the dividend increase from MCD today. I agree that it's a great day whenever a company you own gives you a raise. :)

    1. I might not be getting a raise from my employer but I did get one from one of my workers.

  2. Haha I like thinking of our stocks being little workers, that's a good good one. I was pleased to see the latest MCD increase as well. It's the first one since I became an owner of the company this year.

I see you currently have about 20 stocks in your portfolio, how many are you aiming for?

    1. I'm hoping for 20-30 but there's some that are tiny positions that I was going all gangbusters on when I first started investing and spread my money out too thin. Later this year I'll be looking into what I need to sell to cancel out the loss that I have from some of my investing mistakes. The ultimate goal is 20-30 for now and once I get them built up then I'll probably start reserving some capital for special sales and use the rest to rebalance the portfolio.
